Meet & Greet Harvard Alumni and Students
Summer has always been a good time to meet and greet during a walk in nature. Harvard Business School (HBS) Chapter Amsterdam / BeNeLux invites alumni and students for a walk near Nijmegen, The Netherlands. We will be walking part of the Viae Romanae (Roman Roads) vital to the maintenance and development of the Roman state. Nijmegen is the oldest city in the Netherlands. The ancient settlement was located on the edge of the Roman Empire. That enormous empire had a widespread road network that made travel possible. The beautiful nature around Nijmegen was created during the penultimate ice age. About 150,000 years ago, a thick pack of land ice swept over the Netherlands from Scandinavia. Ice tongues covered half of the country. The ice pushed the ground with sand and gravel ahead and upwards. This created a lateral moraine, a kind of hilly area, here around Nijmegen.
Programme
When: August 16th 2023
Where: Near Nijmegen, The Netherlands (You will receive the exact location by mail)
Time: 2 p.m / 14.00 h until 5 p.m. / 17.00 h (plus meal afterwards)
Distance: It will be an average walk of no more than 10 km – It is the experience that matters most
Who: Anyone with an HBS connection
Language: Mostly English
Price: Free – Except for drinks and meal
What: We will discover the area during a nice walk that does not need to much of a walking condition and will share our Harvard related stories. It will be an organised walk with suggested topics to discuss.
Food & Drinks: You can bring your own food and drinks for during the breaks. We will discuss during the walk if there is also enough enthusiasm to have something to eat together afterwards. For example, at one of the traditional Dutch pancake houses.
